Weigh the sample. Divide by the calculated area. Compare with the GSM you were quoted.

actual GSM = measured bag weight (g) ÷ calculated area (m²)

We weigh and back-calculate every pre-production sample before approving it, and we would encourage you to do the same with ours. It takes a kitchen scale and two minutes, and it is the only check in this industry that cannot be talked around.
