What actually happens

Lamination is what turns a porous woven sack into a barrier pack and gives print somewhere to sit. Bond strength depends heavily on the surface energy of the substrate at the moment of bonding.

What to specify

Specify the film structure and whether you need the print trapped between layers.

How it goes wrong, and what catches it

The failure mode. Delamination — the film peeling from the fabric, usually weeks later in a humid warehouse rather than at the factory.

The control. Surface energy checked before bonding; bond tested on production samples, not only on the first metre.
